I had so much fun last Halloween handing out crocheted bags filled with goodies. Several children came back and asked if I had any more "knitted bags." Thirty years ago I was living in Queens, New York and pregnant with my son. A Ukranian lady in our neighborhood gave me a beautifully painted wooden spoon as a baby gift. She explained that hanging it over the crib would bring good luck to the child. It was such a beautiful gesture from a woman I barely knew. That was my introduction to the beauty and generosity of the Ukranian people.
